Sacred Spaces: Album Release

Cities and Memory have just released a new album on Bandcamp:

Includes high-quality FREE download in MP3, FLAC and more. Paying supporters also get unlimited streaming via the free Bandcamp app.

My contribution is track 5: Spirit of the Prayer Wheel– based around a field recording of a prayer wheel from Kathmandu.

The album compiles some of the highlights from the Cities and Memory Sacred Spaces project – you can hear the full project, and the field recordings from which these pieces have been created, at:

Sacred Spaces: Do Campanologists Dream of Electric Bells?

Part of the Cities and Memory SACRED SPACES project:

citiesandmemory.com/sacredspaces/

Created using Reaktor 5 and Kontakt 5; hosted in Sonar X1.

My Final Composition:

All parts in this one, (except the electric piano solo), were created directly from fragments of the original field recording. Various snippets of the Canadian recording, (not just the bells, but other incidental noises as well) were loaded up into five granular samplers for extensive editing.

The electric piano solo was performed using the Scarbee Mark 1 virtual instrument.
